Who Are We?

    Resident professional artist, stylist and marketing nerd, Caroline studied teaching and Majored in Drama. She spent years working as a professional performer and facilitator and has spent the last decade running her own mobile Paint and Sip company. Recently Caroline started her own Media company to incorporate her love of photography into her company Socially Susan and wrote an online course for hosts called Hostenomics. Mum of 4 and proud Ovarian Cancer survivor in her teens. Madly in love with Matt and her four children x

    Raised in Stansbury and a living and breathing example of core country values, which he brings to his hosting role. A dedicated father and FIFO worker as a Supervisor for BHP.

From the moment you step foot into Uncle Matthews (or UM as we like to call it), you'll be greeted by vibrant and whimsical decor that tells a story of its own. Each room has been carefully curated to create a sense of wonder and transport you to a world of imagination.

But it's not just about the aesthetics. Our team is here to provide you with personalised attention and assistance throughout your stay. We take pride in going above and beyond to ensure that your experience with Uncle Matthews is nothing short of extraordinary.

Who is Matthew???

According to his daughter Matt is “an awesome, kind, caring, playful and loving dad.” And according to fiancee Caroline, he’s “an incredibly caring, thoughtful, patient, loving and extremely hardworking partner.”

Matt grew up in Stansbury, riding his pushbike, exploring the cliff faces, snorkelling and fishing. He was the last Colts Captain for the SYP football league before the North and South amalgamated. He finished an apprenticeship in Carpentry. After that he moved to NSW and travelled with a shearing contractor before heading off to WA, living in Karratha chasing the mining boom, and became a rigger. During a 15 year period in WA he spent his time spear fishing, motor bike riding, racing in some enduro dessert races and racing in the Fink Dessert Race out of Alice Springs, completing the race twice!

It was during this time that Matt set up a base back in his hometown of Stansbury, building the house in 2011. Some of the first people that visited the house were his extended family, including his 3 nieces, hence the fitting name Uncle Matthews!

Some of his favourite hobbies are snowboarding (you’ll see him on a black run, or jumping out of a helicopter in NZ, or Japan) he also has a passion for flying and for quite some time was studying and training to fly his own helicopter. He cooks a mean roast and loves to spend his time at the beach with his family!

Matt still works in the mines, FIFO out of Olympic Dam as a Supervisor for BHP, is engaged to Caroline and is absolutely besotted with his 6-year-old daughter, Bridie Quinn.
